Computers and Tech
Melbourne Global Game Jam 2023 has a limited number of computers available on-site. If you wish to use one of the provided computers, you will need to make sure you have a "JMC Provided PC" ticket. If you're not using a provided PC, it's important that you bring your laptop or desktop PC and appropriate power cabling.
We plan on having a "loaner" desk available on site where you can borrow power cables, extension boards and network cables to get things set up in your area. If you need to run network cables or network hubs to connect desktop PCs, please arrive early on the Friday and we'll try to ensure we can get you connected. We recommend bringing a WiFi card or adapter as a backup in case we're not able to provide a wired network connection where you are set up.
What you need to bring tech wise:
- Laptop or desktop computer (based on your ticket)
- Power boards and extension cables sufficient to plug all your equipment in
Melbourne Global Game Jam is a fully catered event, but to reduce waste we ask that you bring with you:
- A large plate and suitable cutlery
You'll receive a mug at registration, so there's no need to bring a mug.
You're also free to bring your own food or drink, with the exception of alcohol; Melbourne Global Game Jam is an alcohol-free event.
There will be sleeping rooms and showers available at Melbourne Global Game Jam. If you're planning on staying overnight, please ensure you bring everything you need for an overnight stay, including:
- Suitable changes of clothes
- Deodorant and toiletries (soap, etc.)
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Sleeping bag and/or inflatable mattress
